But the delineations of danger are far clear, as the most unscrupulous of mankind are not without their fingers in the pot where profitable military applications can be gleaned. Corruption and treachery amplify the perils of deep space, where the *Conestoga*-class *USS Endymion* has been dispatched. Answering a distress beacon from the Hyperion Mining Colony on Feldspar has opened an investigation of the pattern of infection, murky as it seems with convoluted trails, convenient scapegoats, and suspicious circumstances.
